About the Role

The Bakery Supply Chain Manager position is a key role that requires a seasoned professional to manage and optimize the supply chain for our client’s bakery operations in Botswana. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent product availability, managing stock movement, and implementing cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high customer service levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control movement of stock within production transfers and product issued/ transferred to sales.
  • Address variances as and when they occur.
  • Ensure consistent product availability in line with customer/market demand.
  • Plan routes to ensure profitability, route optimization, and asset utilization.
  • Monitor route profitability and cost against forecasts per route and product category to identify areas for improvement.
  • Allocate resources to improve the overall performance of the routes.
  • Reconcile driver sales daily to ensure process and system integrity.
  • Ensure a cost-effective distribution process while not compromising set customer service levels with respect to order fill and on-time delivery.
  • Manage procurement to ensure optimal usage of company resources and cost saving initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the staff training and development plan aimed at ensuring capacity, capability, and succession planning.
  • Motivate employees by clearly defining job responsibilities and training them to achieve the agreed standards.
  • Compile and submit reports depicting performance against set targets.
  • Supervise the process of customer surveys to capture relevant market intelligence and identify existing and new market routes in accordance with company expectations.
  • Participate actively in the implementation of ISO and Kaizen programs in order to contribute to company compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental Policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Administration/Supply Chain/Sales or equivalent.
  • At least eight years of experience in the FMCG and manufacturing industry of which three years must have been at Managerial Level.
  • Excellent Computer skills (MS Office).
