Job Description
- Mining sector experience only (petroleum or gas backgrounds will not be considered)
- Strong preference for zinc, copper, or gold mining projects
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Crushing plants
- Materials handling systems
- Underground mining
- Mining-related infrastructure projects
- Second preference: nickel, cobalt, or PGM (platinum group metals) projects
Experience Requirements
- 10–15 years total experience in engineering & design within EPC/EPCM project environments
- Minimum 7 years in an Engineering Manager / Engineering Lead role
- At least 7 years managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including:
- Metallurgical / Chemical / Process
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Control & Instrumentation
- Civil & Structural
- Piping
- Mining engineers (advantageous)
- Engineering management experience must be project-based (design & construction) — not operations or production facilities
Project & Technical Experience
- Proven experience across all project phases:
- Feasibility
- Basic Engineering
- Detailed Engineering
- Procurement
- Construction
- Commissioning
- Strong interface management with:
- Subcontractors
- Engineering & Technology Suppliers (EC’s)
- Materials handling, crushing, infrastructure EC’s
- Underground mining EC’s (advantageous)
- Experience structuring and managing:
- Engineering work packages
- Interfaces with schedule, WBS, cost control
- Procurement, construction, and commissioning packages
- Good understanding of procurement and contracting methodologies and their impact on engineering integration
- Exposure to owner’s QC/QS, environmental requirements, and relevant legal frameworks is advantageous
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree in one of the following:
- Metallurgical / Process (preferred)
- Mechanical (preferred)
- Chemical
- Electrical
- Civil
- Additional qualification in Engineering Management is advantageous but not mandatory
Key Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate owner requirements into engineering and construction deliverables
- Strong integration management capability
- Proven ability to work across multiple disciplines and interfaces within large project teams
- Fluent in technical Russian and English (spoken and written)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the PMC engineering team, including QA/QC and environmental functions
- Act as the primary interface between the owner’s technical requirements and the broader project team, including EC’s
- Plan, control, and evaluate engineering activities and performance
- Review and evaluate contractor deliverables in line with contractual requirements
- Resolve technical, design, and integration issues throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide technical assurance in line with the agreed contracting strategy
- Develop and implement engineering standards, specifications, and procedures
- Provide engineering input into:
- Project contracting strategy
- Commissioning strategy
- Handover strategy
