About the Role
The Broker Consultant will be responsible for managing, supporting, and growing relationships with appointed brokerages, driving profitable growth, improving broker engagement, and ensuring the effective positioning of the insurer’s short-term insurance products in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop strong, long-term relationships with an allocated panel of brokerages
- Act as the primary point of contact between the insurer and broker partners
- Drive new business, retention, and portfolio growth through broker engagement
- Provide product training, technical support, and market updates to brokers
- Support brokers with quotations, underwriting queries, and complex policy structures
- Identify growth opportunities within broker portfolios and implement action plans
- Monitor broker performance against agreed targets and KPIs
- Ensure compliance with FAIS, FICA, and internal underwriting guidelines
- Represent the insurer at broker meetings, industry events, and roadshows
- Provide market intelligence and competitor insights to internal stakeholders
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Broker Consultant or similar role within a short-term insurer
- Proven experience across both Commercial and Personal Lines short-term insurance
- Established, existing relationships with brokerages in the South African insurance market
- Strong technical understanding of short-term insurance products and underwriting principles
Qualifications
- Relevant insurance qualification (minimum NQF Level 4)
- RE5 qualification (or ability to obtain if required)
