About the Role

A well-established organization operating within the manufacturing space is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team. This role is factory-based and highly operational, requiring someone who can engage confidently with production teams while maintaining strong costing accuracy and financial discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain ABC and standard costing models.
  • Maintain and update costing structures and models.
  • Prepare costing-focused budgets and forecasts, including variance tracking.
  • Manage CAPEX reporting and maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Maintain and analyze bills of material (BOMs) and routings.
  • Perform average costing, recoveries, and overhead analysis.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis and implement cost adjustments where required.
  • Monitor and analyze production line performance from a costing perspective.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including production and operations teams.
  • Prepare detailed costing reports and management analysis.

Requirements

  • BCom Degree or CIMA qualification (essential).
  • Proven experience as a Cost Accountant in a manufacturing, mining, or engineering environment.
  • Strong, hands-on exposure to factory-based costing.

About the Role

We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team in Johannesburg, responsible for supporting capital expenditure projects and driving cost savings through alternative sourcing and volume leverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support capex projects with RFQs, supplier sourcing, and commercial evaluation.
  • Assist with trials of new parts, materials, or technologies.
  • Use ERP / CMMS systems (Syspro, Oracle, Pragma, etc.) to manage requisitions, POs, and receipts.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation (contracts, price lists, supplier info).
  • Prepare reports on spend, savings, supplier performance, and key KPIs.
  • Build strong relationships with OEMs, local and international suppliers.
  • Coordinate supplier visits, technical presentations, and trials when required.
  • Develop and maintain an approved supplier base for critical engineering items.
  • Drive cost savings through alternative sourcing, volume leverage, and standardisation.
