Job Description
The Legal Advisor will oversee all legal aspects of our export operations. The Legal Advisor will be responsible for ensuring legal compliance, manage risks related to international trade, draft and review contracts, manage all litigation, report to various stakeholders and advise on a wide range of regulatory and business matters. This role is critical in ensuring our company operates within the law while achieving its business objectives globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting of Contracts: Draft, negotiate, conduct review and finalize all contracts the Company enters into, including NDAs, MOUs, Distribution Agreements, Loan Agreements, Agency Agreements, Supplier Agreements etc.
- Vetting of Contracts: Vet any contracts the Company enters into with third-parties to ensure any contractual risks are mitigated and/or eradicated, including Credit Applications, Supply Agreements, Trade Terms, Lease Agreements.
- Advisory Role: Offer legal advice to various departments in the Company on any legal and contractual issues as and when required.
- Litigation: Manage all legal claims and disputes the Company is party to. Oversee litigation related to the Companys debtors.
- Records administration: Ensure all important legal documents are stored and managed.
- Company secretarial: Attend to board meetings and minutes, assist with statutory compliance and changes to the company structure.
- Offshore: Assist with all contractual management and legal compliance across various related entities.
- Labour: Provide HR with advice on labour related issues, assist in vetting specific HR agreements ie. Consultancy Agreements, Restraints of Trade.
- Policy & Governance: Review and amend any relevant policies including Standard Terms of Business, web terms and conditions, supplier terms and conditions etc. for the Company & any related entities.
- Risk Assessment: Identify legal risks in business operations, example customer onboarding, and providing practical, legal solutions.

- Drafting, vetting and negotiating on complex legal agreements.

- Legal research and interpretation.
- High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Strong ethical judgment, confidentiality and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Good interpersonal skills to work across departments.
Experience & Qualification:
- LLB / LLM / BCom Legal with completed articles.
- Admission as an attorney or advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
- Demonstrated experience in Commercial Law, litigation, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
