About the Role
As a Guide at our Private Game Lodge in South Africa, you will have the opportunity to deliver exceptional and safe wildlife experiences to guests through guided game drives and walking safaris, while promoting conservation, environmental awareness, and our lodge’s service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct informative and engaging game drives and bush walks.
- Interpret animal behaviour, ecology, birdlife, and local flora.
- Ensure guest safety at all times during activities.
- Build rapport with guests and provide personalized experiences.
- Assist with guest hosting when required (meals, transfers, special requests).
- Promote responsible tourism and conservation ethics.
- Monitor wildlife sightings and report unusual animal behaviour.
- Assist with anti-poaching awareness and lodge conservation initiatives.
- Maintain safari vehicles in clean and roadworthy condition.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, tyres, radios, safety equipment).
- Ensure rifles (if applicable) are safely stored and compliant with regulations.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Registered with Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA)
- Valid CATHSSETA accreditation
- Valid South African Drivers Licence with PDP
- First Aid Level 1 (minimum)
