Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic – Ready Mix with experience working with ready-mix concrete trucks or heavy commercial vehicles and batching plants to join our team in King William’s Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of our equipment to minimize downtime and support continuous production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on: Ready-mix concrete trucks Batching plant equipment Diesel engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform effective repairs
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Inspect vehicles and plant for safety, reliability, and compliance
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Attend to breakdowns on-site and in the field as required
  • Ensure workshop tools and equipment are properly maintained
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Communicate equipment status to drivers, plant operators, and supervisors
  • Identify required parts and assist with stock control

Requirements

  • Grade 12/ Matric Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic or equivalent (Advantageous)
  • Proven experience working with ready-mix concrete trucks or heavy commercial vehicles and Batching plants or similar industrial equipment
  • Sound knowledge of Diesel engines, Hydraulics and pneumatics, Electrical fault-finding

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license (Code 10 or Code 14 advantageous)
