About the Role
We are seeking a Sales Assistant in our Plumbing Division to join our team in East London. As a passionate and customer-focused individual with a strong background in plumbing sales, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist walk-in customers, contractors, plumbers, and DIY enthusiasts with product selection, advice, and recommendations on plumbing fittings, pipes, valves, taps, geysers, drainage systems, tools, and related hardware.
- Achieve and exceed monthly sales targets through active selling, upselling, and cross-selling.
- Provide expert technical advice on plumbing products, installations, and troubleshooting to build customer trust and loyalty.
- Process sales transactions accurately using POS systems, handle cash/ card payments, and manage stock queries.
- Maintain high standards of store presentation, including merchandising, shelf stocking, and product displays in the plumbing section.
- Handle customer queries, returns, and complaints professionally.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and stock availability.
Requirements
- Proven plumbing sales experience (minimum 23 years in a retail plumbing/hardware store, builders’ merchant, or similar environment essential).
- Strong product knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, brands, and applications (e.g., PVC, copper, brass fittings, water supply, drainage, sanitaryware).
Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
