Job Description

Hospitality Hire is recruiting on behalf of our client, a 4-star hotel in Cape Town , we are recruiting a highly experienced Hotel Duty Manager to join a senior operational leadership team. This is a key management role for a confident hospitality professional capable of overseeing all hotel departments , working closely with the General Manager and Deputy General Manager , and acting as the first line of management for both guest and staff matters. The successful candidate will be hands-on, operationally strong, calm under pressure, and able to lead teams while ensuring consistent service standards across the hotel. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of all hotel departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, Security, and Guest Services Act as the primary point of contact and decision-maker in the absence of the GM or Deputy GM Serve as the first-line manager for all guest complaints, escalations, and service recovery Manage staff issues, operational challenges, and emergencies professionally and decisively Ensure service standards, policies, and procedures are consistently applied across all departments Conduct daily operational briefings, handovers, and walkabouts Monitor guest satisfaction and proactively address service gaps Support departmental managers with operational guidance and problem-solving Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and operational standards Maintain accurate logs, reports, and shift handovers Minimum Requirements Matric or equivalent qualification Relevant hospitality formal qualifications. Degree or Diploma Minimum 5 years’ experience in a hotel management role Minimum 3 years’ experience specifically as a Hotel Duty Manager in 5 or 4 star luxury hotels, boutique hotels or very luxury game lodges Proven experience working across all hotel departments Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage professionally at all levels Computer literate with experience in hotel systems and reporting CV must be fully updated before submission Key Skills & Attributes Strong operational leadership and authority presence Excellent guest service and service recovery skills Calm, confident, and decisive under pressure Strong people management and conflict resolution ability Highly organised with strong attention to detail Professional presentation and conduct Team-focused with a hands-on management style Recruitment is aligned with the company’s Employment Equity Plan .
