About the Role
We are seeking a motivated professional with strong expertise in international logistics to coordinate and optimise the movement of materials across global supply chains as a Freight Forwarding Specialist within our Logistics Department at Fort Jackson plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate international shipments of raw materials and customer-nominated parts via air, sea, and land transport.
- Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics service providers.
- Ensure compliance with Incoterms and international shipping regulations.
- Consolidate shipments from multiple suppliers to optimise container utilisation.
- Track and monitor shipments, resolving transportation delays or issues proactively.
- Maintain accurate shipping documentation (bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, etc.).
- Support customs clearance processes and verify accuracy of HS codes.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Sales, and Engineering to align logistics activities with business requirements.
- Analyse freight costs, prepare KPI reports, and identify opportunities for savings and service improvements.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance freight efficiency and reduce costs.
Requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of Incoterms, HS codes, and customs procedures.
- Experience with multi-modal transport coordination.
- 35 years experience in freight forwarding or international logistics (automotive sector advantageous).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or related field.
