About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Academic Coach to provide structured, personalised academic support to learners aged 13–15 years in Bedfordview, Johannesburg. As a seasoned education professional, you will guide learners toward independence, confidence, and consistent academic performance, working across all subjects to focus on learning skills, planning, accountability, and academic structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support learners with study skills, time management, organisation, and exam preparation
- Supervise and structure homework routines and assessment planning
- Assist learners in developing motivation, accountability, and independent learning habits
- Monitor academic progress and adjust support strategies accordingly
- Help balance academic requirements with extramural and sporting commitments
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and subject tutors to ensure alignment and holistic support
- Create structured routines and academic plans tailored to each learner
Requirements
- Proven experience working with high school learners (Grades 8–9)
- Strong understanding of curriculum demands and academic expectations at this level
- Confident communicator with learners, parents, and educators
- Highly organised, consistent, and able to set and maintain boundaries
- Calm, authoritative, and supportive coaching style
Qualifications
- Relevant education background and/or extensive practical experience
