About the Role

The Operations Manager – Water Treatment Equipment role at our client in Cape Town City Centre requires a seasoned professional with expertise in water treatment systems and operations management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and maintenance of water treatment systems across various sites, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and overseeing the planning, execution, and maintenance operations of water treatment systems at customer sites.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of installation and maintenance teams.
  • Planning, scheduling, and allocating resources efficiently across multiple sites.
  • Ensuring operational KPIs are achieved, including project timelines, service response targets, and quality standards.
  • Developing and implementing operational procedures and systems to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Managing installation projects from planning and procurement through to commissioning.
  • Coordinating with sales, design, and procurement teams to ensure smooth project handovers.
  • Monitoring project budgets, timelines, and quality standards to ensure successful delivery.
  • Conducting site inspections and enforcing technical compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring full compliance with OHSA and client-specific safety requirements.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety audits.
  • Maintaining environmental and regulatory compliance across all operations.
  • Acting as the primary operational contact for clients during installation and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Process, or related field)
  • Previous experience working in a senior water treatment operations or related role
  • Proven experience managing installation and maintenance teams
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment systems: RO, dosing systems, softeners, filtration, boiler/cooling water treatment or related
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems and automation
  • Experience managing multi-site operations across a region or province
