About the Role

As a Credit & Pricing Analyst in our Cape Town City Centre office, you will be instrumental in driving sustainable profitability and informing credit strategy for our organisation. You will report directly to the Head of Credit, Pricing and Data and play a key role in developing and optimising pricing models, data-driven insights, and analytical outputs that guide commercial and financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise pricing models to support sustainable profitability across product lines
  • Model and assess P&L impacts of proposed pricing adjustments, commission changes, and credit policy updates
  • Build and maintain credit performance forecasts, including repayment rates, expected losses, and portfolio quality indicators
  • Enhance automated credit risk models by analysing customer, behavioural, and transactional data
  • Conduct backtesting and model validation to ensure scoring and risk-bucketing frameworks remain accurate and effective
  • Investigate portfolio trends to identify performance drivers, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Provide clear, actionable insights to support strategic and operational decision-making across in-country teams
  • Prototype and test new analytical models or data-driven concepts to uncover opportunities for performance improvement
  • Collaborate closely with commercial, sales, and underwriting teams to ensure analytical outputs translate into operational outcomes
  • Take ownership of business impact, proactively ensuring recommendations are implemented and tracked

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline
  • Experience: 25 years in credit risk, pricing, data science, or financial analytics
  • Experience in fintech, lending, or financial services advantageous
  • Background in building credit scorecards, pricing models, or complex financial forecasts
  • Exposure to emerging or developing markets beneficial
