About the Role

The Johannesburg-based IT Security and Infrastructure Manager will lead and mature the company’s IT security and infrastructure capabilities across on-premise, hosted, and cloud environments. This role ensures secure, resilient, and efficient operation of server platforms and networks (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi), aligned to business objectives, risk appetite, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of the organization’s IT security and infrastructure strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Manage the development and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures to safeguard company assets, data, and systems.
  • Evaluate, select, and deploy new technologies and tools to enhance infrastructure performance, scalability, and security.
  • Lead incident response efforts, including investigation, mitigation, and reporting of security breaches or vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and incident response exercises to identify and mitigate potential threats.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of security and infrastructure initiatives across the organization.
  • Manage and optimize the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud environments.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance security posture and infrastructure efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging threats, regulatory requirements, compliance, and advancements in IT security and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in IT/Computer Science/Information Systems or related field.
  • More than 5 years in infrastructure/security engineering or operations.
  • More than 2 years in a Management/Lead role.
  • Hands-on administration of servers, clusters, networks, and security tools.
  • Designing/operating hybrid (on-prem cloud) environments.
  • Leading incidents, audits, and remediation.
  • Experience in leading security incident response, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Certifications in Security: Security, CySA, SSCP, CISSP, CCSP, AZ-500 (Azure Security), or equivalent.
  • Certifications in Infrastructure/Network: CCNA/CCNP, Mikrotik MTCNA, CompTIA Network, VMware VCP, HPE SimpliVity, Microsoft/Windows Server, Linux, Azure/GCP/AWS Associate/Professional ITIL Foundation for service management.
