About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Design Engineering Manager to lead critical design initiatives and influence product development in our Pretoria-based manufacturing environment. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping engineering excellence and driving innovation within our specialised business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all engineering and design activities across the business
  • Take full ownership of equipment design validation, ensuring quality, accuracy, and performance
  • Drive research and development initiatives to enhance existing products and introduce new solutions
  • Oversee and approve production drawings, ensuring alignment with project and manufacturing requirements
  • Compile and present technical tenders with a high level of professionalism
  • Engage directly with clients through site visits, technical discussions, and solution development
  • Develop detailed bills of material and product specifications
  • Spearhead new product and component development projects
  • Plan, track, and deliver projects using structured timelines and Gantt charts
  • Mentor, guide, and support engineering team members to achieve performance excellence

Requirements

  • BSc Mechanical Engineering (or higher)
  • 10+ years experience within a design engineering role in manufacturing, mining, or heavy engineering
  • Strong expertise in FEA, with hands-on experience using Ansys
  • Proficient in SolidWorks for detailed design work
  • Proven experience in analyzing components and full assemblies using finite element methods

Qualifications

  • Valid South African drivers license and reliable transport
