About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team in Durban. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting financial statements, managing financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately
- Perform account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, and income statement)
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/GAAP) and regulatory requirements
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Manage tax filings, VAT returns, and statutory reporting
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
- Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury management
- Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and cost control
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and analysis
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Pastel, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) is advantageous
