Job Description

An iconic, vertically integrated agri-business in the Western Cape is looking for a technically strong Cost Accountant to join their finance team. This is not a desk-bound costing role. This is a boots-on-the-ground opportunity where youll work closely with operations, production, and procurement, translating raw materials, yields, and processes into accurate, insightful cost data. If you understand bill of materials (BOM) costing and Activity Based Costing (ABC) – and you know how powerful those tools are in a production-driven environment – this role will speak your language. Key Responsibilities: Full responsibility for product costing across production lines Managing and maintaining accurate BOM costing structures Implementing and refining ABC models Analysing cost drivers and identifying margin improvement opportunities Monitoring production variances and investigating inefficiencies Yield analysis and waste control reporting Inventory valuation, reconciliations, and stock control oversight Partnering with operational teams to ensure accurate cost allocation Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and pricing decisions Job Experience and Skills Required: BCom in Accounting, Finance, or Cost & Management Accounting Proven experience in a manufacturing, production, or agricultural environment Strong hands-on exposure to BOM costing (non-negotiable) Practical experience with ABC (non-negotiable) Strong analytical mindset and ability to work with large data sets High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy Ability to engage with operational teams and translate numbers into insight This is an opportunity to work in a values-driven, production-focused environment where costing directly impacts strategic decisions.
