About the Role
As a Transport Broker / Logistics Consultant, you will be responsible for identifying and contacting prospective customers and suppliers, negotiating sales deals and rates, and proactively communicating with suppliers to transport goods effectively and efficiently to customers. With an in-depth knowledge of the road transport industry, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, managing volumes allocated to the company, and meeting budget and margin targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, including regular visits.
- Negotiating new contracts.
- Negotiate transport rates with clients and transporters.
- Manage volumes allocated to the company.
- Understand the running cost of a vehicle to determine CPKs.
- Analyse commodity trends and adapt to market fluctuations.
- Keep track of the daily and monthly budgets.
- Adding new clients and transporters to our existing customer book.
- Maintain established admin procedures.
- Develop relationship with current transport, clients and truck drivers.
- Follow up with transporters to determine accurate ETA’s and trucks.
- Good communication with clients keeping them informed about status of the cargo.
- Build good relationships with loading and off-loading points.
- Identify key role players at loading and off-loading points.
- Weekly planning and forecasting of truck movements.
- Build client relations and support drivers at loading and off-loading points.
Requirements
- At least 2 -4 years experience in a similar role within the transport industry.
- Preferably someone with a relevant qualification (degree or diploma).
