Job Description

Senior technician required to join a team at a managed service provider looking after a host of diverse clients. The role requires proactive monitoring of multiple network environments and strong troubleshooting skills across both WAN and LAN connectivity. You will provide general network support and fault-finding, interact with internal IT teams to resolve issues quickly and professionally, and manage vendors to resolve network-related issues including routers, firewalls, unified communications, and security platforms. The role includes managing small to medium sized projects, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring network stability and performance across client environments. You will be expected to document processes, develop and maintain network-support-related documentation, and mentor junior engineers while providing support and technical advice to the broader team. Experience with backup design, implementation and support is required. The role also includes administration and support of hosted virtualisation environments, including Hyper-V, and requires working knowledge of Proxmox and Linux-based systems, including basic server administration, troubleshooting, and virtualisation/storage concepts. Strong documentation skills with the ability to work against a project plan, track deliverables, and report progress to EXCO. 5 years network engineering experience including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewall administration, and unified communications troubleshooting. Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP. Working knowledge of virtualised environments and competent with multiple hypervisors, including Hyper-V and Proxmox. Experience with Hyper-V clustering and hyper-converged infrastructure maintenance. Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Office 365, Exchange (on-prem and/or hybrid), and Active Directory. Experience working with server hardware, including diagnostics and component replacement where required. Linux server knowledge and KVM/Proxmox experience an advantage. Knowledge of SQL Server and related troubleshooting is beneficial. Strong communication skills, professional and well presented. Valid drivers licence and own transport mandatory.
