About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving innovation and growth in our research and development department. We are seeking an experienced R&D Specialist to identify emerging technologies, market trends, and customer needs within the industrial electrical supplies industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research to identify emerging technologies, market trends, and customer needs within the industrial electrical supplies industry.
- Source and evaluate new electrical products, components, and technologies from local and international suppliers.
- Test prototypes, electrical components, and systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Document all stages of the research and development process, including design specifications, testing procedures, sourcing processes, and results.
- Ensure products comply with South African safety standards, regulatory frameworks, and quality requirements.
- Identify opportunities for product improvement, innovation, and cost optimisation.
- Remain up to date with industry developments, product innovations, and technological advancements.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and product documentation for management and stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the technical department and suppliers to ensure product compatibility and smooth implementation.
- Translate and interpret technical data sheets from suppliers, ensuring accurate understanding of product specifications and compliance with local standards.

Qualifications
- Formal tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Product Design, Technology, Supply Chain, or a related technical field.
