About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Reception Shift Leader to join our team at a 4 or 5-star hotel in South Africa. As a key member of our Front Office team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest service and ensuring seamless operations during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Front Office team during assigned shifts
- Deliver warm, professional, and attentive guest service at all times
- Ensure smooth and efficient guest check-ins and check-outs
- Handle guest requests, concerns, and complaints professionally and efficiently
- Accurately manage reservations, billing, and guest profiles on Opera PMS
- Conduct detailed shift handovers and ensure operational continuity
- Support reception staff with guidance, training, and daily operational support
- Coordinate effectively with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Porters, and Management
- Ensure hotel standards, SOPs, and service procedures are consistently maintained
- Assist in creating a positive, motivated, and service-driven front office environment
Requirements
- Matric or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Reception Shift Leader or Senior Receptionist within a large, branded hotel
- Strong hands-on Opera PMS experience (essential)
- Previous experience within a 4 or 5-star hotel environment
- Strong understanding of front office procedures, guest service, and shift operations
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and Opera PMS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
