South Africa: Hotel Reception Shift Leader

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Reception Shift Leader to join our team at a 4 or 5-star hotel in South Africa. As a key member of our Front Office team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest service and ensuring seamless operations during assigned shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the Front Office team during assigned shifts
  • Deliver warm, professional, and attentive guest service at all times
  • Ensure smooth and efficient guest check-ins and check-outs
  • Handle guest requests, concerns, and complaints professionally and efficiently
  • Accurately manage reservations, billing, and guest profiles on Opera PMS
  • Conduct detailed shift handovers and ensure operational continuity
  • Support reception staff with guidance, training, and daily operational support
  • Coordinate effectively with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Porters, and Management
  • Ensure hotel standards, SOPs, and service procedures are consistently maintained
  • Assist in creating a positive, motivated, and service-driven front office environment

Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Reception Shift Leader or Senior Receptionist within a large, branded hotel
  • Strong hands-on Opera PMS experience (essential)
  • Previous experience within a 4 or 5-star hotel environment
  • Strong understanding of front office procedures, guest service, and shift operations
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office and Opera PMS
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
