Bookkeeper

Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our clients, small tax consultancy firm based in Johannesburg, Edenvale. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and supporting our team in delivering excellent service to our clients.

Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping:
Record day-to-day financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
Maintain accurate ledgers (sales, purchases, expenses, payroll, etc.).
Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Tax Compliance:
Assist in preparing VAT returns and ensuring timely submission.
Prepare and file monthly and annual tax returns.
Stay updated on tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
Generate financial reports for management review.
Assist in budget preparation and monitoring.
Client Support:
Communicate with clients to gather financial data and resolve queries.
Provide support during tax audits and liaise with tax authorities when necessary.
Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality service and meet client expectations.
Administrative Tasks:
Assist with general office administration as needed.
Maintain organized financial records and documents.
Qualifications:

Proven work experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role, preferably in a tax consultancy or accounting firm.
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements in South Africa.
Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize tasks.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Relevant certification (e.g., Diploma or Certificate in Bookkeeping) would be advantageous.
