Job Summary
Manganese Metal Company (MMC) , based in Mbombela (Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province), is the worlds largest producer of 99.9% electrolytic manganese metal (EMM). Our products are used in the top-end of the market, in the aluminum, steel, non-ferrous alloys, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, chemicals, and welding consumable industries. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB The job incumbent safely carries out preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment, and installation work when required, in line with documented work instructions. In this position, the job incumbent will be part of the engineering services team at MMC and play an important role in working closely with various engineering teams and other departments to achieve world-class service delivery to his clients. This position is a great opportunity for the incumbent to display their skills, by resolving difficult mechanical, fitting, and maintenance challenges safely and within the company requirements. The job requires a self-starter, an energetic individual, and a doer. MMC operates on a 24-hour/365day basis. Success in this role happens when the desired uptime and throughput of equipment is achieved at the lowest cost. Risk assessments, work planning, and execution will form part of your daily routine. The Individual will most importantly enjoy the satisfaction of being part of the worlds only team that delivers the MMC brand of Electrolytic Manganese Metal (EMM) to our niche customers all over the world, directly from the lovely Mbombela, in Mpumalanga. N3/Matric with Maths and Science. Trade Certification (qualified Fitter/Fitter and Turner). Computer literacy (Basic). Code 08 drivers licence. 3-4 years` experience in fitting/fitting and turning, post qualification. Prioritise and perform the job as outlined in the Work Order and as per the detailed Task List. Capture history complete the job card to the required standard. Complete Work Order on ONKEY with the correct time and all details to the required standard. Provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor/Foreman on any task where there is a difference between the task instruction and the job requirements. Provide feedback and recommendations on short comings, defects and further maintenance required to restore equipment to original safe operating condition. Order consumables and request critical spares used. Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns. Conduct risk assessment before proceeding with maintenance activities. Carry out repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance work on equipment. Monitor the efficiency of maintained equipment and machinery. Effectively maintain toolkit. Maintain the rotable spares. Perform isolation and lockout and issue lockout documents (i.e. permit to work) where applicable. Prioritise maintenance activities according to production requirements where required. Complete works order. Carry out plant inspections, action shortcomings where possible report on integrity and safety matters. Maintain a clean working environment. Complete log book for company vehicle. Keep company vehicles and company property clean COMPETENCIES Reliable Quality Conscious Safety Conscious Cost Conscious Technically Capable Manually Capable Team working Communicating Plant and workshop-based, exposed to hazardous chemicals and biological agents. Regular traveling required (local). Standby required.
