Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills:
- Read and interpret drawings and sketches to establish required dimensions to be marked on materials and assembled products;
- Marking off and cutting off materials using the oxy-acetylene cutting torch, plasma torch, angle grinders, guillotines, band saws, pipe cutters, and many other cutting tools and machines;
- Develop, mark out, bend and roll using parallel lines, radial lines, triangulation and spiral developments;
- Preparation of material (pipes and plates) for assembling by rolling, bending, chamfering of weld preps, drilling, and punching;
- Assembling together prepared metal components by manual arc welding, and bolting.
- Fabrication, repair and maintenance of steel structures;
- Knowledgeable use of most hand tools, portable power tools, pneumatic tools, pipe and plate bending machines (manual and hydraulic).
- Proper and safe use of lifting machinery and equipment such as overhead cranes, chain blocks, chain pullers, slings, shackles and lifting spreader beams and lugs;
- Complies with all relevant health, safety, environmental, quality, legal and regulatory requirements as stipulated by company requirements
