Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Half-Day Bookkeeper to join the team and contribute to the smooth running of financial processes.

Minimum requirements
- Matric
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle OR reliable transport
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and financial administration
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, especially Pastel)
- Excellent understanding of financial reporting and reconciliations
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Duties and responsibilities
- Accurately capture and process daily financial transactions into the accounting system to ensure up-to-date financial information
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts by allocating transactions to the correct cost centres and accounts
- Process supplier invoices, credit notes and payment runs, ensuring all supporting documents are verified and authorised
- Prepare and issue customer invoices timeously, record receipts, and maintain debtor accounts with accurate ageing
- Perform thorough bank, cashbook and credit card reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records
- Conduct supplier and customer account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve queries promptly
- Monitor outstanding debtor balances, initiate follow-ups, and support effective credit control processes
- Prepare and process necessary journal entries such as accruals, prepayments and adjustments
- Manage and reconcile petty cash, ensuring correct documentation and control procedures are followed
- Assist with VAT calculations, ensure supporting schedules are complete, and support VAT return submissions
- Compile monthly financial records and schedules up to trial balance, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures, including audit preparation and document retrieval
- Maintain a structured and organised financial filing system (physical and digital) to ensure easy document access
- Communicate professionally with suppliers, customers and internal teams to handle financial queries and discrepancies
- Provide support to the accountant or finance manager with ad-hoc financial tasks and reporting when required
Remuneration
R 12 000 basic
Work hours
Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 13:00
