About the Role

A well-established and reputable high volume manufacturing company based in Maitland, Cape Town is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join their Procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated procurement professional with strong operational buying experience to contribute within a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end purchasing process (RFQs, quote comparisons, PO creation, expediting)
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply terms
  • Ensure accurate and timely purchase order processing
  • Manage multiple categories independently
  • Support supplier selection and performance management
  • Monitor on-time delivery performance
  • Reduce invoice queries and resolve supplier issues proactively
  • Maintain professional and ethical supplier relationships
  • Drive cost savings initiatives
  • Monitor MOQ, lead times, and inventory considerations
  • Ensure PO accuracy and turnaround targets are achieved
  • Support continuous improvement within procurement processes

Requirements

  • Matric (Essential)
  • 35 years procurement/buying experience within a manufacturing or operational environment
  • Solid understanding of the full purchasing lifecycle
  • Experience working on SAP ERP (non-negotiable)
  • Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas)
  • Strong knowledge of RFQ processes and vendor selection
  • Understanding of MOQ, lead times and inventory principles

Qualifications

  • Relevant certification in Supply Chain or Purchasing (advantageous)
