Job Title: Code 14 Driver (Truck Mounted Crane & Abnormal Load Experience) Location: Cape Town, Western Cape Industry: Steel Manufacturing Salary: R80 – R115 per hour (depending on experience) Type: Full-time, On-site About the Company Our client is a leading steel manufacturing company based in Cape Town, specializing in the production and delivery of high-quality steel products. Role Overview The company is seeking an experienced Code 14 Driver with a valid PDP and extensive experience handling abnormal loads . The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting large steel structures and materials using a 19.5m truck with a truck-mounted crane from the factory to clients across the Cape Town area. Key Responsibilities Safely operate a Code 14 vehicle with a truck-mounted crane. Load, secure, and transport abnormal and oversized steel products. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle and equipment safety. Comply with all road safety, company, and legal regulations. Liaise with dispatch and clients to ensure on-time deliveries. Assist with loading and offloading when required. Maintain accurate delivery logs and paperwork. Minimum Requirements Matric / Grade 12 certificate (minimum qualification). Valid Code 14 driver’s license with PDP (Professional Driving Permit). 6–10 years proven driving experience, specifically with abnormal loads . Experience operating a truck-mounted crane and handling 19.5m trucks . Sound knowledge of road safety, load securing, and transport regulations. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Attributes Previous experience in the steel manufacturing or construction transport sectors. Crane operation certification (advantageous). Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
