Cape Town City Centre: Furnace Supervisor – Aluworks

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: In-depth and general operation of furnace Constant monitoring of furnace parameters Burner assembly/cleaning and fine-tuning burner combustion Oversee the charging as well as housekeeping of the furnace Monitor scrap quality and assist with scrap blending to achieve desired spec Record production data as required by our quality management system Assist the line manager with ad hoc duties Management of the Furnace equipment and operational procedures Manage quality standards in accordance with set targets and guidelines Manage risk by identifying potential failures and offering solutions to remedy risk Team supervision to ensure smooth operation of the shift Manage consumables and spares to ensure that production runs smoothly Compile shift report including general incidents and delays Investigate incidents and communicate findings possible solutions timeously Implementation and monitoring of Occupation Health and Safety compliance Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria: Matric (Maths compulsory) Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office) Excellent Communication skills. (verbal, written and presentation) In depth knowledge and experience in operating a furnace Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Supervisor in a production or mechanical environment; Ability to work in and lead a team Ability to work independently Willingness to work overtime and SHIFTS Ability to work under challenging conditions Must have basic knowledge of Health & Safety Rules In good health, physically fit ATTRIBUTES: Hard-working and self-motivated Strong interpersonal skills Time management and organizational skills Display a professional work approach Ability to work independently and within a team Ability to motivate team Logical and detail orientated methodologies Excellent standards in execution Commitment to a strong business ethic and integrity
