About the Role

The Furnace Supervisor role at Aluworks is a critical position that requires a skilled and experienced individual to oversee the operation of our furnaces, manage production processes, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • In-depth and general operation of furnace
  • Constant monitoring of furnace parameters
  • Burner assembly/cleaning and fine-tuning burner combustion
  • Oversee the charging as well as housekeeping of the furnace
  • Monitor scrap quality and assist with scrap blending to achieve desired spec
  • Record production data as required by our quality management system
  • Assist the line manager with ad hoc duties
  • Management of the Furnace equipment and operational procedures
  • Manage quality standards in accordance with set targets and guidelines
  • Manage risk by identifying potential failures and offering solutions to remedy risk
  • Team supervision to ensure smooth operation of the shift
  • Manage consumables and spares to ensure that production runs smoothly
  • Compile shift report including general incidents and delays
  • Investigate incidents and communicate findings possible solutions timeously
  • Implementation and monitoring of Occupation Health and Safety compliance

Requirements

  • Matric (Maths compulsory)
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent Communication skills. (verbal, written and presentation)
  • In depth knowledge and experience in operating a furnace
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Supervisor in a production or mechanical environment
  • Ability to work in and lead a team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to work overtime and SHIFTS
  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety Rules
