About the Role
The Senior Specialist: NMSI Technical Lead position is a critical role in managing donor-funded project finances, governance, and reporting for the National Monitoring Support Initiative (NMSI). This senior technical lead will be responsible for designing and implementing monitoring systems to ensure effective reporting against the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage donor-funded NMSI project finances, governance, and reporting.
- Design and implement monitoring systems to ensure effective reporting against GBF and NBSAP.
- Sourcing, developing, and managing data for the national biodiversity monitoring system.
- Managing relationships with data providers.
- Overseeing development and implementation of indicator-related data analyses and workflows.
- Ensuring appropriate databasing and correct computation of indicators.
Requirements
- Degree in Ecology, Biology, Geographic Information Systems or Data Science or equivalent qualification at NQF 7.
- Postgraduate qualification at NQF 8 will be an added advantage.
- 8 years of work experience in the relevant field, with 4 years in first line management position(s).
- Experience and knowledge of spatial and non-spatial data analysis and data science methods and processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is essential.
