About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The ideal candidate will have 7 years of general IT experience, with at least 2 years in a specialist role managing Active Directory and Exchange service administration. They will be responsible for administering and maintaining these systems, providing third-level support for complex technical issues, and leading infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Active Directory and Exchange
- Perform domain and email system administration, including security and compliance
- Provide third-level support for complex technical issues
- Lead and execute infrastructure projects such as migrations, upgrades, and integrations
- Manage supporting technologies to ensure seamless interoperability
- Implement innovative solutions to meet customer requirements in consultation with architects
- Coordinate lab tests for upgrades and project deployments
- Document environments, implementations, and develop detailed work instructions
- Perform trend analysis and make recommendations for optimization
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory and related components
- Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Messaging systems, specifically Microsoft Exchange (up to at least Exchange 2016)
- Familiarity with Office 365, Intune, Mail Archiving, Defender, ADFS, ADLDS, ADCA, Azure AD, and AAD Connect
- Solid understanding of Windows Operating Systems and network fundamentals
- Ability to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions using PowerShell scripting
- Sound knowledge of the ITIL framework and its application in enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery principles and testing methodologies
Qualifications
- Minimum: Grade 12 or equivalent (suitably qualified as articulated in the Employment Equity Act)
- Preferred: Tertiary education (Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field)
