Job Summary

GEOTECHNICAL PRINCIPAL | TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (BRIDGES) Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA Highly Competitive Package on Offer Our Client, an astute Global Civil Engineering firm is currently in search of a seasoned bridge (or related) design expert to join their dynamic team of renowned and award-winning technical professional. Main Purpose of the Role: Be responsible for leading and working with teams of Engineers, Designers and Draughtspersons across major-sized projects and a portfolio of clients. The role involves strategic technical leadership and the ability to lift the overall technical performance of the engineering professional team through varous development and mentoring initiatives. You will assume technical responsibility on multiple major-scale projects whilst providing specialist technical advice. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical specialist support and guidance to peers and other functional groups within the level of your expertise Provide technical leadership and management of a multi-disciplinary team Mentoring and coaching as well as knowledge transfer to staff Identify and provide solutions to challenging engineering problems Develop and maintain relationships with clients by maintaining contact with wide local and international network of persons with similar interests Ensure that appropriate technical standards and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements are adhered to Apply a deeper understanding of engineering principles to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions to problems Plan and resource projects Prepare client reports and designs Manage drawing, project specifications and contract documentation production for assigned tasks in accordance with the Companies procedures and appropriate technical standards Prepare expressions of interest and tender submissions Strictly adhere to the Companiess Management System (MS), quality standards and HSE procedures Keeping abreast of latest techniques Publish papers or articles on projects or developments in the field of expertise Be involved in relevant initiatives Share knowledge with colleagues, clients, students through the facilitation of workshops, lectures etc. RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Engineering degree/higher degree from accredited university/college Relevant professional memberships 10-15 Years proven experience with expert knowledge in pre-stressed concrete bridge design and / or pre-stressed building concrete design Preferred proven experience gained either in SA / UK / Europe market Expert knowledge gained in reinforced concrete Solid project management and leadership skills Ability to identify and provide solutions to challenging engineering problems Ability to use analytical tools including commercial software Sound knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) Extensive knowledge of engineering materials and their applications Knowledge of contractual matters pertaining to construction Sound knowledge of OHS and environmental regulations Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment To apply for this role, please forward an updated and detailed copy of your CV to
