Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Senior Buyer to manage procurement activities and ensure the efficient sourcing of construction materials across multiple projects. The role involves supplier management, procurement coordination, price negotiations, and ensuring materials are delivered on time, within budget, and according to project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Issue enquiries for required construction materials and obtain supplier quotations

Analyse and compare quotations to ensure competitive pricing and value

Place purchase orders with approved suppliers in line with project requirements

Ensure materials are delivered according to project programmes and deadlines

Monitor material quality and ensure compliance with required standards

Consolidate purchases to maximise cost savings and procurement efficiencies

Ensure approved group buying agreements and procurement procedures are followed

Report material delays, shortages, or supply issues to management

Liaise with suppliers, QS teams, and site teams regarding over-deliveries and discrepancies

Forecast material requirements and coordinate with suppliers to ensure product availability

Review monthly invoicing and verify accuracy prior to payment processing

Identify and report procurement or invoicing anomalies where required

Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier documentation

Requirements

Tertiary qualification in Procurement, Business Management, or related field

Minimum 7 years experience as a Buyer within construction environments

Strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management

Experience working with procurement systems (BuildSmart advantageous)

Strong understanding of construction materials and supply chain processes
