About the Role
International maritime manufacturer is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team based in the Foreshore, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years accounting and finance experience, completed SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA articles, and solid Sage X3 and Xero system experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile management accounts and variance analysis.
- Review and perform accounting (sales, purchases, bank, payroll, fixed assets).
- Compile and manage forecasting, budgeting, cash-flow planning.
- Verify and record supplier invoices and payments.
- Manage client invoicing and monitor collections.
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flows.
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor shipbuilding project costs and control budget variances.
- Implement project-based cost accounting and reporting.
- Manage Statutory reporting, i.e. VAT, PAYE, SDL, CIPC, etc.
- Prepare VAT returns for submission to the accounting firm.
- Participate in internal audit.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
- Improve data entry procedures, internal controls, and reporting.
- Maintenance of fixed asset register and reconciling the assets to the general ledger.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years experience in accounting and finance.
- Completed SAIPA, CIMA or SAICA articles.
- Solid Sage X3 and Xero system experience.
- System implementation and integration experience will be highly advantageous, as well as related industry experience.
- Knowledge of IFRS and South African tax regulations.
Qualifications
- Tertiary Degree, Diploma, Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or similar.
- Completed SAIPA, CIMA or SAICA articles.
- Professional qualifications such as AGA(SA), PA(SA), etc. would be an advantage.
Salary & Benefits
R300,000 to R480,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience. Discretionary performance bonus.
