Hire Resolve`s client, a leading insurance company, is seeking a Junior Compliance Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Compliance Department by ensuring adherence to South African regulatory and legislative requirements. Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with FAIS (Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act), PPRs (Policyholder Protection Rules), POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act), FICA (Financial Intelligence Centre Act), LTIA (Long-Term Insurance Act), and the Insurance Act.
  • Support the Compliance Department with regulatory implementation and compliance monitoring.
  • Stay informed of changes in South African legislation and assist in updating company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update the Noncompliance Register.
  • Assist in regulatory reviews, inspections, and investigations under the guidance of the Head of Compliance.
  • Conduct annual compliance audits and onsite visits for third-party service providers.
  • Review internal contracts to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Assist in identifying and analyzing compliance risks.
  • Provide support on compliance-related matters, including new business ventures, claims management, product development, marketing campaigns, and other initiatives.
  • Monitor and track South African regulatory updates and assist in implementing required changes.
  • Help assess the impact of regulatory developments on business operations.
  • Support compliance monitoring of Binder Holders, Juristic Representatives (JRs), outsourced partners, and intermediaries.
  • Assist in overseeing third-party processes, ensuring compliance with South African regulatory requirements, policies, and internal manuals.
  • Monitor broker and binder agreements to ensure adherence to FSCA (Financial Sector Conduct Authority) regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • FAIS Regulatory Exam (RE1 or RE5) certification preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a compliance, risk, or regulatory role within the insurance, financial services, or legal sector.
  • Strong understanding of South African financial and insurance regulations.
  • Knowledge of compliance monitoring, regulatory reporting, and policy development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret South African financial and insurance regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Key

Responsibilities:

Compliance & Legal Advisory:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Provide management with legal advice and opinions as required.
  • Support the Compliance Department in implementing legislation and compliance monitoring.
  • Stay informed of legislative developments affecting the business.

  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments and assist in implementing new or amended requirements.
  • Assess and advise on the impact of regulatory changes.
  • Provide input on drafting proposed regulatory requirements.

Third-Party, Broker Advisory & Intermediary Relations:

  • Maintain strong compliance monitoring and oversight for third parties, binders, and intermediaries.
