MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – SA STEELWORKS

SA Steelworks requires a committed and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will provide support to the Engineering department.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be expected to

• be an expert in 3D CAD packages; including detailed design of industrial machines, sub-components, sheet metal design, weldments & large-scale assemblies
• generate detailed drawings and BOMs
• prepare manufacturing and assembly instructions
• be highly competent at mechanical stress and load calculations, and, implementation of FEA and simulation software
• have substantial experience with industrial machine and structural design
• have substantial knowledge of motors, hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical power transmission

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• /B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering
• At least 2-7 years industrial design experience
• Advanced Solidworks experience
• Advanced geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Advanced knowledge of the MS Office
• Sound understanding of fabrication, boiler making, welding and precision machining

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

• LV electrical systems
• Enterprise PDM exposure
• FEM/FEA simulation analysis
• Engineering calculations software (Mathcad, MATLAB or similar)
