Job Title:
Procurement ManagerReports To: Finance and Project Director
- Job Overview:
- Manage procurement of equipment purchases for items in Engineering design phase 1 in solar PV systems.
- Ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery while staying within budgets.
- Maintain adherence to company procurement quality policies.
- Take a macro procurement view across all projects in the pipeline.
- Establish long-term, high-quality partnerships with suppliers and subcontractors for optimal pricing agreements.
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Play a key role in supplier and subcontractor vetting procedures with the COO.
- Update pricelists for Engineering Department’s use in project costing.
- Develop project Bill of Quantities (BOQ) with the Engineering Department.
- Hand over project procurement list (BOQ) to Project Management Department.
- Review project budgets and act as a signatory on behalf of the Engineering Department.
- Drive and monitor credit applications with suppliers.
- Liaise with key company employees to determine product and service needs.
- Monitor business trends and product availability to secure the best price without sacrificing quality or delivery times.
- Cultivate relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable prices.
- Identify and research potential new suppliers.
- Research new products and services to align with company goals.
- Assess total costs of company purchases.
- Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing products while monitoring stock levels.
- Manage company stock and inventory.
- Ensure implementation of duties across all Company Branches in Africa.
- Adhere to company ISO 9001 & 45001 Compliances.
- Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Experience in procurement and the solar or renewable energy industry
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and best practices in the solar industry
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and renewable energy standards
