Job Summary
About the Role
Our client, a global leader in the fashion industry, is seeking a seasoned and strategic Product Development & Sourcing Manager to lead their South African PD & Sourcing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven professional to oversee end-to-end product lifecycle managementfrom concept to shelfwhile optimizing sourcing strategies for cost, quality, and speed-to-market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of seasonal product programs, ensuring timely and quality delivery aligned with brand standards.
- Develop short- and long-term sourcing strategies that support both global brand direction and local market needs.
- Oversee contractor compliance with company and legal standards, conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews.
- Deliver high-level customer service by resolving problems swiftly and proposing creative, market-informed solutions.
- Forecast production and supply needs; manage production planning in collaboration with merchandising and sales teams.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through rigorous forecasting and planning.
- Monitor cost targets, margins, and KPIs; work closely with the Sourcing Director on OPEX tracking and cost-saving initiatives.
- Mentor and develop a small team to maintain high engagement and productivity levels.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with logistics, supply planning, manufacturing, and commercial operations teams.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary Degree/Diploma in Manufacturing, Engineering, Sourcing, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in product development and sourcingideally in the apparel or fashion industry.
- Proven ability to manage supplier relationships across local and international markets.
Key Competencies:
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and contracting abilities.
- Capable of independent decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.
- Skilled in cost analysis, inventory forecasting, and operational planning.
- Hands-on experience with global systems (e.g., SAP, DaVinci, Costing tools).

- Direct Reports: 23 team members
- Travel: Approximately 10% annually
- Work Conditions: Expect longer hours during seasonal development peaks
