About the Role
A well-established transport and haulage company in Cape Town is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Philippi. This role is ideal for a reliable and technically strong professional with hands-on experience working on heavy-duty vehicles and trailers in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Servicing of heavy-duty vehicles (MAN, VOLVO, FREIGHTLINER), trailers, and gensets, including oil changes, brakes, and general maintenance.
- Diagnosing mechanical issues and offering suitable, cost-effective solutions.
- Inspecting vehicles, including suspensions, steering systems, and exhausts.
- Repairing gearboxes, brakes, clutches, engines, and other associated components.
- Preparing vehicles for Certificate of Fitness (COF) inspections and ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards.
- Attending to emergency breakdowns on the road when required.
- Ensuring maintenance work is carried out efficiently and safely.
Requirements
- Trade Certificate in Diesel Mechanic.
- Proven experience working on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair faults efficiently.
- Experience preparing vehicles for COF inspections.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Good communication skills and a commitment to safety standards.
