About the Role
Hospitaity Hire SA is seeking a highly experienced Hotel Duty Manager to join a senior operational leadership team at our client’s 4-star hotel in Cape Town. As a key management role, this position requires a confident hospitality professional who can oversee all hotel departments, work closely with the General Manager and Deputy General Manager, and act as the first line of management for both guest and staff matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of all hotel departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, Security, and Guest Services
- Act as the primary point of contact and decision-maker in the absence of the GM or Deputy GM
- Serve as the first-line manager for all guest complaints, escalations, and service recovery
- Manage staff issues, operational challenges, and emergencies professionally and decisively
- Ensure service standards, policies, and procedures are consistently applied across all departments
- Conduct daily operational briefings, handovers, and walkabouts
- Monitor guest satisfaction and proactively address service gaps
Requirements
- Relevant hospitality formal qualifications
- Matric or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a hotel management role
- Minimum 3 years’ experience specifically as a Hotel Duty Manager in 5 or 4 star luxury hotels, boutique hotels or very luxury game lodges
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage professionally at all levels
