About the Role
A leading global brand is seeking to appoint a Product Developer to assist in developing, documenting, and ensuring that the quality and integrity of the group’s product standards are maintained. This role will involve translating consumer and sales trends into new menu items, localizing products for international regions, and collaborating with various departments to ensure product quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops new and enhances existing menu items beginning at concept ideation by translating consumer and sales trends, while continuing through to workable prototypes.
- Localizes the groups’ menu for their international regions
- Source and develop new ingredient suppliers for improved quality and margin
- Partner with operations to test new products and trial the operational or store level viability of each product prior to launch.
- Work with Supply Chain department to gather initial price information, and determine ingredient supply feasibility
- Provides timely, accurate and complete written documentation of all products.
- Supports sales, marketing with new and promotional products.
- Assists customer care dept with technical support.
- Supports activities of the Product Development executive
- Independently conducts research on current and new menu items/raw materials, exploring methods to improve cost, quality, flavour, colour, texture, nutritional value, convenience and/or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of products.
Requirements
- Relevant Tertiary qualification in food science or chef, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Post education or chef school, five years related experience in the food industry.
