About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Facility Manager to oversee operations at our wood and metal production facility in Airport City, Cape Town. As a key member of our team, you will lead a skilled team of artisans and production staff, ensuring efficient workflows, machine performance, and top-tier quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all woodworking operations from raw material intake to final product assembly
- Oversee production schedules, resource allocation, and workflow planning
- Ensure quality control for umbrellas, loungers, and custom wood products
- Implement and enforce health & safety protocols across the facility
- Lead, train, and mentor production staff to maintain high performance
- Monitor stock levels, hardware, and consumables for uninterrupted production
- Collaborate with senior management on targets, timelines, and continuous improvement
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks to optimize production efficiency
Requirements
- Proven experience managing a woodworking or manufacturing facility
- Strong knowledge of hardwoods, joinery, and finishing techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production plans
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of machinery maintenance and production flow optimization
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Qualifications
- Completed degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, wood science)
