Location: Blackheath, Cape Town
Reporting To: Design Manager / Technical Manager
What Youll Be Doing:

Producing accurate and detailed technical drawings from concept, designing, rendering, detail designing to compilation of complete 3D manufacturing drawings foreach design

Interpreting client requirements and translating design concepts into production-ready drawings
-
Working closely with Design and Production Teams to ensure technical feasibility and manufacturability

Updating and maintaining the drawing register and documentation control systems
-
Revising and reworking existing designs based on client or production feedback
-
Providing technical support during production processes, and to the sales and manufacturing teams
-
Conducting site measurements or assisting with prototyping when required
-
Liaising with suppliers regarding component specifications and materials when necessary

Researching and designing new concepts/products
-
Product development of current products
-
Cost estimations of old and new designs
-
Comparisons of estimated versus actual costs upon the completion of a project
-
All other tasks related to the position.
What You Need to Bring:
-
Relevant technical qualification (e.g. Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical or Architectural Draughting)

Minimum 5 years practical experience in a similar role in a manufacturing or industrial design environment

Solid understanding of steel structures, joinery, plumbing, 12V electrical installations, solar panels and mechanical components

Proficiency in Afrikaans and English (verbal and written)

Strong computer skills (MS Excel & CAD software such as AutoCAD and Inventor)

Own reliable transport.
Bonus Points If You Have:

Experience in sanitation or modular construction.

Familiarity with SANS standards and compliance codes.

Hands-on experience with fabrication or production processes.
