Job Summary
Hire Resolve`s Client is seeking to hire a Senior Product Designer to join their team in Cape Town, Ottery. The Senior Product Designer (Liners) will lead the development and optimization of HV and Python liners, focusing on innovation, manufacturing efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This hands-on role involves working closely with production, refining designs through prototyping and testing, analyzing cost drivers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor`s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong interpersonal, mathematical, and analytical skills.
- Hands-on approach with a passion for creating and refining physical solutions.
- Willingness to work long hours in a production environment and engage in practical problem-solving.
- Ability to manage requirements, challenge assumptions, and collaborate effectively.
- Practical problem-solving skills based on physics and engineering principles.
Key
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Product Designer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency of our design and production processes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development and optimization of Python liners, eliminating HV pockets.
- Spending time on the production floor to identify pain points and create practical solutions.
- Defining requirements, leading design efforts, and fostering cross-functional teamwork.
- Adopting a “build fast, test fast, fix fast” approach to meet deadlines and solve challenges.
- Analyzing cost drivers and customer feedback to drive iterative design improvements.
- Building and testing prototypes, developing independent test plans, and using test equipment proficiently.
- Applying engineering principles and experimentation to refine processes and products.
- Utilizing strong technical knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to develop optimal solutions.
- Collaborating with the Supply Chain team to source products and develop supplier relationships.
- Facilitating brainstorming sessions to drive innovation.
- Managing projects within the NPD project framework, ensuring budget adherence.
- Conducting best-practice evaluations, maintaining thorough records, and mentoring others.
Technical Skills:
- Microsoft 365 Proficiency: Advanced Excel (pivot tables, LOOKUP, INDEX) and OneDrive.
- Technical Drawings: Ability to read and interpret specifications with minimal guidance.
- Mechanical & Pneumatic Systems: Basic understanding of fault-finding and component replacement.
- Prototyping: Skilled in manufacturing high-quality prototypes using in-house facilities.
- Test Facilities: Ability to develop test plans and deploy test equipment effectively.
