About the Role

We are seeking two experienced Shift Electricians to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our electrical operations, you will be responsible for ensuring continuous plant electrical reliability by performing breakdown response, planned maintenance, safety inspections, fault finding, and equipment optimisation on all major electrical systems across the operation. Key Responsibilities

• Perform breakdown response and planned maintenance on electrical systems
• Conduct safety inspections and fault finding to ensure plant reliability
• Optimize equipment performance using variable speed drives (VSDs) and PLC-controlled equipment
• Ensure safe operation of overhead cranes & lifting equipment, industrial panels and MCCs

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience in the steel industry (furnaces, melt shop, rolling mills, cranes, heavy equipment)
• Exposure to high-voltage electrical systems, heavy automation equipment, and industrial safety protocols
• Hands-on experience working on electric motors, soft starters, variable speed drives (VSDs), PLC-controlled equipment

Qualifications

• Red Seal Trade Test (Electrician) certification
