Job Description
- Develop and implement comprehensive data management strategies aligned with organisational goals.
- Define and maintain data policies, standards, and best practices for effective data governance.
- Establish frameworks for data quality, integrity, and compliance across the enterprise.
- Identify opportunities to improve data utilisation for analytics, AI, and business intelligence.
- Evaluate and select optimal data storage technologies, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data storage architectures.
- Ensure efficient data access, retrieval, and integration across platforms and environments.
- Optimise data infrastructure for advanced analytics, reporting, and AI workloads.
- Partner with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams to understand organisational data needs and translate them into actionable solutions.
- Ensure alignment of data initiatives with business strategies and priorities.
- Communicate complex data concepts, architectures, and solutions clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Foster collaboration between data science, engineering, and governance teams to ensure seamless data operations.
Requirements
- Education: NQF Level 6 or higher tertiary qualification in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or a related field (including Information Systems).
- Cloud certification (e.g., Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
- Minimum of 6 years experience in a Data Scientist role with strong focus on data strategy, architecture, and management.
- Expertise in data strategy, governance, and master data management.
- Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, cloud-based data platforms).
- Experience designing and managing large-scale data storage and integration architectures.
- Proficiency in data modelling, ETL processes, and cloud data services (Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, etc.).
