About the Role
Phakisa Holdings is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Mahogany Ridge, Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out general mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations to ensure optimal functioning of equipment and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery
- Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on breakdowns
- Install, assemble, and align mechanical components and systems
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed according to safety standards and procedures
- Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance tasks
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Assist with shutdown maintenance and urgent repair work
- Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams
Requirements
- Trade Test Certificate as a Mechanical Fitter
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a maintenance environment
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or plant maintenance
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments
