Purpose of the role:

The Specialist Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructures, including cloud networks. This role ensures network reliability, security, and scalability while providing expert guidance on advanced networking technologies and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage complex network architectures, including cloud-based solutions.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network issues to maintain high availability and performance.
  
• Implement, configure, and maintain network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
  
• Develop, document, and enforce network policies, standards, and best practices.
  
• Collaborate with senior engineers and IT teams to translate research findings into scalable, production-ready solutions.
  
• Provide expert guidance and insights on networking tools, frameworks, and algorithms.
  
• Stay current with emerging networking technologies and recommend improvements to maintain organizational innovation.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• NQF Level 6 qualification or a Degree in Information Communication Technology (ICT) or related field, including Information Systems.
  
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), or AWS are highly desirable.
  
• Minimum of 6 years experience as a Network Engineer, Data Centre Engineer, or in a related networking role.
  
• Proven experience in designing, managing, and securing enterprise-level networks.
