Job Summary
We’re looking for a data science leader who’s ready to help reimagine everyday banking through the power of machine learning and AI. This is your opportunity to drive innovation in a fast-moving, digitally focused bank that’s committed to making banking more accessible,
personalized, and intuitive for all South Africans. As Lead Data Scientist, you’ll take the reins on high-impact projects that turn data into smarter, faster decisions—shaping how we serve and engage with our customers every day.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the development of machine learning and AI models that power intelligent decision-making across the business.
- Design and scale a robust BI and analytics framework from scratch.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and operations teams to embed data-led strategies.
- Champion data governance, integrity, and compliance.
- Translate complex data insights into clear, actionable strategies for executive stakeholders.
- Build and mentor a team of high-performing data professionals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in quantative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience in data science, with proven work in ML/AI and business intelligence.
- Deep understanding of predictive modeling, machine-learning, clustering and classification techniques, and algorithms
- Fluency in a programming language (Python, C,C++, Java, SQL)
- Familiarity with Big Data frameworks and visualization tools (Cassandra, Hadoop, Spark, Tableau)
