Durbanville: PLC PROGRAMMER posted by West Coast Personnel

The role is suited to a technically minded individual with a strong interest in automation and control systems. The successful candidate will be involved in PLC and HMI programming, factory testing, commissioning of machines and production lines, and on-site support.
This is a hands-on role requiring both software and practical electrical fault-finding skills.
Key Responsibilities

• PLC programming for machines and conveyor systems
• HMI development and configuration
• Offline programming and factory testing
• Machine and line commissioning in the factory and on customer sites
• Setup and commissioning of VSDs (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Yaskawa or similar)
• Networking of control systems
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings
• Fault finding and troubleshooting within electrical control panels
• Hands-on modifications to control panels and field wiring where required
• Operator training and post-installation line support
• Remote standby support for troubleshooting as required

Technical Requirements

• Exposure to PLC platforms such as Siemens, Mitsubishi and/or Omron
• Basic to intermediate understanding of industrial automation systems
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Comfortable working inside electrical panels
• Willingness to travel to sites for installation and commissioning

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant technical qualification or software course certification (advantageous)
• Practical experience in PLC / automation environments (advantageous)
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technically
